Series premieres Thursday, January 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on W Network

(October 21, 2013 – Toronto, Canada) This January, Corus Entertainment’s W Network presents the premiere of the new six-part series following two-time world ice dancing champions, Olympic Gold medalists and Canadian sweethearts Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Produced by Media Headquarters in association with W Network with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, Tessa & Scott premieres Thursday, January 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on W Network.

“With this series we are able to give W Network viewers an up close and personal look at what it’s really like to be world class athletes – on and off the ice. It’s a fascinating and complex world,” said Vibika Bianchi, Vice President, Original Programming, Women’s and Family Television, Corus Entertainment. “Audiences will find themselves completely enamoured with this duo as we watch their personal and professional struggles and triumphs throughout their season and into the final months leading up to the Sochi Olympic games.”

Tessa & Scott (6×30) goes behind closed doors and into the exhilarating day-to-day lives of Canada’s irresistible duo. As the series premieres the charismatic couple is faced with challenges they could have never imagined following their Olympic win in Vancouver in 2010. They are tasked with negotiating their insane schedules and staying connected with each other while fighting their way back to the top of the podium after placing second at the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships®. From training in Canton, Michigan where they share a coach with their biggest on-ice rivals, to public appearances, to skating in competitions in Saint John, New Brunswick and Paris, France, the series gives audiences a unique window into the stressful and highly competitive world of ice dancing.

The series also captures Tessa and Scott’s unique personal relationship off the ice. Partners since primary school, their intimate connection on the ice has inspired millions of fans. The series accompanies them on costume fittings, skate camps, cocktail parties and coaching sessions. Audiences will meet Tessa and Scott’s close friends and family and witness the thrilling highs and devastating lows of their incredible journey as they strive to fulfill their dream.

“We’re thrilled to bring audiences Tessa and Scott’s story in a year that is so important to their careers and their lives.” said Executive Producer, Robert Cohen.

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir were paired as an ice dance couple at the ages of seven and nine by Scott’s aunt, their skating coach at the time. Nine years later, they became the first Canadian ice dancers to win the World Junior Figure Skating Championships and moved on to win two World Championships. In 2010, they became the first North Americans – and the youngest team in history – to win the Olympic Gold Medal for ice dancing.

Tessa & Scott is produced with the participation of the Rogers Cable Network Fund and Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund.
